Q. What does “equivalent training” mean in Staff Qualifications?

A. If a provider or lead staff member in a program is not currently participating in the Maryland Child Care Credentialing program, proof of specific training may be substituted at Quality Ratings 2 and 3. It is important to note that equivalent training is only accepted at Quality Rating 2 and 3.  A complete description of equivalent training and list of appropriate documentation to submit can be found here: Equivalent Training.

Note: To achieve Quality Ratings 4 and 5, the provider or lead staff member is required to hold a valid credential at the specified credential level for credit. See Maryland Child Care Credential Program for more information.
