Maryland EXCELS recognizes that a high quality, well-trained workforce is at the heart of any quality child care or early education program. Ongoing training is key to preparing and supporting providers and educators to meet the daily demands of the important work they do.
Staff Qualifications and Professional Development (STF) requirements focus on the training and credentials needed to build a well-trained child care workforce. Maryland EXCELS recognizes the registration and licensing regulations for Family Child Care Homes, Child Care Centers, including centers that serve only School-Age children. Any program that meets State registration and licensing regulations also meets the Maryland EXCELS requirements for Staff Qualifications and Professional Development: Education/Experience: STF 1.1.
