Accreditation Training provides an overview of what is involved in becoming accredited. To meet the requirement for Accreditation and Rating Scales: Accreditation: ACR 1.2, complete an approved accreditation training and submit a completed Accreditation Reflection Form.

Approved Accreditation Training may include a Maryland EXCELS webinar, accreditation orientation, conference, seminar, or workshop. Accrediting organizations may also offer training about their accreditation process. These trainings can be used to meet the accreditation training requirement.

What does the documentation look like?

After completing an accreditation overview training, you have fully completed the Accreditation Reflection Form.

Where can you learn more?

  • Maryland Accreditation  Maryland Accreditation is a voluntary process.  A program chooses to pursue self-appraisal, program improvement, and external program review to achieve and publicly confirm that they meet high quality state standards.
  • Maryland Accreditation Orientation Take your first step toward accreditation by taking the Maryland Accreditation Orientation to learn about the accreditation process.
  • Accreditation Reflection Form  After completing an approved accreditation overview training, the Accreditation Reflection Form must be completed and submitted into the Maryland EXCELS system.
  • National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) sponsors a nationally recognized accreditation system for Family Child Care programs. MSDE offers funding to help family child care programs pay the cost of pursuing accreditation.
