Quality Rating 2: Learning Materials

Selection and Use of Materials Statement

Quality child care programs recognize that children learn from actively exploring their world. These programs provide materials that encourage exploration, creative and critical thinking, and skill development to support learning.

Look around your environment. Which materials show your commitment to providing an environment with engaging materials that encourage children’s development, challenge their thinking and development, and promote their learning?

This section guides you through reviewing, revising, or creating a statement that describes how your program selects and uses materials to support children’s learning. It helps you meet the requirements for Developmentally Appropriate Learning and Practice: Learning Materials: DAP 2.2.
