Check your documents one more time as you prepare to upload them to the Maryland EXCELS System.

Step 1: Check your documents

Your documentation should include:

  • A current staff salary scale, clearly showing that salaries are determined by:
    • Education
    • Experience
  • A description of employee benefits

Step 2: Save your documents

Use a file name you can find easily when you upload documents to the system (example: salary-scale.docx; benefits.pdf).

Use any one of these formats:

  • Typed electronic version of salary scale and benefits (examples: Microsoft Word, PDF)
  • Scanned versions of salary scale and benefits (examples: PDF, PNG, JPG)
  • Digital images of salary scale and benefits documents (examples: JPG, PNG, PDF)
  • Identified section within your staff handbook describing salary and benefits (examples: Microsoft Word, PDF, JPG)

Step 3: Upload your documents (ADM 12.4)

Log into the Maryland EXCELS System to upload your documentation regarding salary scales and description of employee benefits.

Remember, if you are a family child care provider and do not employ any additional staff, leave a comment for your Program Coordinator in the Maryland EXCELS System (ADM 12.4) explaining that you have no employees.

Select Add new file, Select file and save.
